There are a lot of legit opportunities. I am a work at home mom who does a few things:
Consultant for a really cool company, Thirty-One Gifts
I sell greeting cards, art, and santa letters.
I do all this online and through craft shows.
If you search for direct sales companies, there are many opportunities where you can start your own business for little or no money. Just check out the company with the BBB or DSWA.
Good luck!

I work at home for a unique company that helps people who don’t have health insurance or are under-insured. There is no absolutely NO SELLING, NO TELEMARKETING AND NO PRODUCTS involved. That’s what makes them different from so many of these work-at-home companies out there, most of which you make no decent money on. With my company, rather then selling “products” that people “want“, they are “helping” people with a valuable and very affordable service they “need“. 70% of this country are un- or under- insured, so the market out there is staggering. They have been in the business 15 years, have nearly 2 million people on their benefits, and saved them over a billion $!! They are also registered with the BBB, the Consumer Health Alliance, the National Association of Dental Plans, Dun & Bradstreet, the Direct Selling Association, and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, so they are a reputable and legit business. They have over 100,000 providers on their plans including well-known companies such as Lenscrafters, Pearle Vision, JC Penney, CVS, Walgreens.

They offer benefits for your entire family, 401K, AD&D and a very generous income plan. I have been with them 2 months and am very pleased.

If you are interested in working at home, from moms to dads to students, this is the company!!! I’ve tried everything from home assembly, surveys, emails, and even eBay and none of them really worked for me.

Visit their website at http://www.freedomathometeam.com/40424269. There’s a lot of info on there as well as you can request an interview. Please feel free to email me with any questions if you don’t find your answer on the website.

Good luck to you!!!

If you have an in demand skill like proofreading. CAD design, etc. there is no problem. If not your only recourse is to sell something on ebay, yahoo auctions or a web site. If you have time and an intrest in attaining a skill of some sort do so. There is animation, writing for magazines, reasearch contracts that you can get into. Best of luck thinking of something.

Many call centers (order taking, technical help) allow people to work from home. But you do have to be available and in a quiet environment.

If you can think of something to sell on e-Bay, that's perfectly legit.

Some call centers will let you work from home after they've trained you at their office for 3-6 months.
