I was in a relasionship for a year with a girl I really loved.
Since we broke up (her decision), I have never been able to open up again.

3 years later we got together again, and I felt like I was given another chance for happiness. It took less than a week for me to realize that I was still hanging on to the past, and that I didn't want to be with the person she had become. I felt nothing for her.

I have since been in a relasionship with a girl I really care about, but feel nothing for emotionally. It been 3 years.

I dont want to waste any more of her time, but I cant seem to break it off (permanantly).

Will I always hang on to what I had in the past.

Can you really get over it?

Yes you can ..
You need to break it off with her and move on , i know it's going to be hard but like you said " you don't want to waste anymore of her time " but you shouldn't waste anymore of your time either .
You need to go out and find a nice girl that has the same interests as you and then you'll see how you'll forget about the other one.
Best of luck to you !!

Yes you can. But it may take a little work. If after these 3 years, you are still struggling with old memories, it's time to talk to a professional counselor. You can explore why you can't share the same emotional feelings for the current love like you have for the past. There is a way to let the past go and appreciate the present, and that's what you need to work on.

The heart never forgets. You will always care about the relationship you had in the past but it's good that you realize taht things can't be remade or repeated. Nothing stays the same. If you truly care for this girl now, just tell her straight up. Stringing her along longer and longer is only going to make it worse in the end. Think about how you would feel if you were with someone and they did not care for you "emotionally." It would devastate you that they waited that long to tell you.

Damn hun sounds like you got some letting go issues. i know its scary moving on from something your use to and comfortable with but if your not happy and know its time then you have to leave the past in the past. Your not doing niether you or her any good holding on to nothin. This is something only you can fix. good luck

well, i don't think so. memories and feelings are really strong. i think that whenever you see this past love you'll feel like you love her, even though you know that it won't work out.
i think that when you truly fall in love again you'll be able to see that there are different kinds of love, you'll never forget the other one, but you have to open up and try to find your true soul mate.
