Every day I ride my bike to town and take the exact same route home. I've noticed that during the first mile of this ride, on the way in, I almost never see a car. Yet on the way home, along the same stretch, I'm usually passed by several cars. This is the same whatever time I come and go, and I do vary it a lot. It is consistent and has been this way for almost 3 years.
Who knows how this could be?

Downhill on the way in!

hmmmmm
1) perhaps there is a temporal displacement along that first mile of the road -- you may not experience it since you are probably riding on the right-hand portion of the lane OR
2) if there is such an anomaly, perhaps it is only activated by the engines.

if either of these is the case, you may delve further into the mystery by questioning some of the townspeople to see if they remember the entire drive or have pieces 'missing'

3) perhaps it is timing -- by the time you get to the 'busy point', it may now be 5:05 or 5:10 pm, and most people who have left work at 5:00 from wherever they work, tend to catch up to you at this point in the road
4) government conspiracy?? (never dismiss this theory)

okay i've wasted two minutes of my day now

You're riding your bike on a one-way street. You go with traffic on the way in and against traffic on the way home.

Because your not riding where cars would be seen like maybe on a trail in a forest.

Since you say "u eats u spinach", you have a nice behind, so everyone follows you just so they can check it out while you ride back home.
