1) Money management (which is different from....)
2) Bankroll management.
3) Fundamentals in different games - not just one - limit & no-limit, cash games & tourneys, hold 'em & stud (Omaha, too, probably)....specialize in 1 game - but be able to win in others, too.
4) Reading the board...being aware of when you probably have the best hand....and when you might have, or be drawing to, the 2nd best hand. It's hard to let go of really good hands, but great players know when to do it.
5) Understanding position and how to use it - the power of the button!
6) Understanding odds - pot odds & implied odds.
7) Reading your opponents - understanding their psychology, how they play, their range of hands.
8) Learn how to mix up your game & play unpredictably. Be comfortable in playing styles other than the one that comes most naturally to you.
9) Learning how to bluff - bluffing willy-nilly is losing poker, bluffing selectively & semi-bluffing are key parts of the game.
10) Learn how to learn....you can never know too much - learn how to study books & participate in online poker forums & discussions.
