Absolutely! Self rising flour has baking powder and salt already in it - approximately 1 1/2 tsp baking powder and 1/2 tsp salt per cup. If your recipe needs more baking powder, just add the difference - and add any baking soda your recipe might call for (if you are making them with buttermilk, baking soda is essential!)

If you do that you may have to add yeast. If the recipe doesn't call for yeast, then it's probably because it's included in the self-raising flour.

You can try, but they'll probably fall in the middles.

if you add baking powder and a pinch of of salt and I think a little soda too.
