Depending on where you are, Eid will be on Tuesday in most of the West and also parts of North India and Pakistan. East and South of India will have the Eid on Wednesday. Saudi Arabia will celebrate Eid on Monday as they do not wait for the crescent to be visible and follow the New Moon as the criteria for calculating the day of Eid or a new month.

You can compute the exact date of moon sighting as follows from the following website:

usno.navy.mil

Do a google search for your areas lattitude and longitude. Find from the above site the Solar and lunar setting and rising time for your area. Find out also when the new moon is going to fall. Add 17 hours to the new moon time. Check and see if this time (after addition of 17 hours) falls before dusk. If it does, it is possible the crescent will be visible on that day. Check out when the moon sets and when the Sun sets. If they are both within one hour of each other (sun has to set first) then the chances of sighting the moon are remote to negligent, even after the new moon was 17 hours before dusk, as the brightness of the horizon will surely hide the new crescent.

The crescent will be sighted if all three of the below factors are met:

1. There has to be seventeen hours between the local time of new moon and sunset hour.

2. The moon setting time has to be a minimum of one hour after the sunset hour.

3. There should be no clouds on the sky.

If all three conditions are met, then the moon will surely be sighted.

I hope this helps you.
