It most probably has something to do with your vertebrae. It could be a pinched nerve, a disintegrated disc, bursitis; have an MRI or a nerve conductor test. I have it, and found out it was in fact a disintegrated C5, C6, C7 disc. My arms and hands go numb and tingle. I have epidurals now, and it is better. OOOOOOH, it is involved.

Have you had the pain long? When did the pain start?? Do you remember injuring the shoulder or arm? Do you remember doing any activity that could cause a strain or injury to the area? Have you been involved in an accident just prior to the onset of the pain?

You may have pinched a nerve in your neck, which could cause pain in your arm and shoulder, or you may have caused an injury to the shoulder. C'mon.... do a little detective work on your own... think what could have happened to cause the pain or injury. Pain like you describe doesn't "just happen". You don't say what kind of doctors have examined you. I would try a Chiropractor, figuring on a pinched nerve, and let him do an exam.

tell me about it!!! i ve been trying to get a proper diagnosis for years!!! last two, it spread to my back and chest. it is my right hand so it can not be related to heart. in the beginning they told me it is just a muscular pain, some gels helped but when it is too strong and spread on the back it wont go away. the last one i visited said it has to do with my bone joints, but that is all he said, couldnt explain it!!! i knew this onw already because although the pain was spread i could feel it was coming from the joint of my shoulder. i have this pain mainly on winter. he prescribed an anti inflammatory drug because he just took a guess. the pain is still back. Sometimes it gets worse when i do work with my hands. No specific answer from anyone, cardiologist, pathologist, orthopedist, next time i have it i think i ll go see a neurological surgeon because i believe they know more. they even told me it was neurotic!!! easy answer when they cant find a true one! but the problem is i am a psychologist and been in therapy for years for my training so i am sure it is not psychological and there is no such psychological disorder!!! (unless this is combined with many other physical complaints that have no medical reason).
i guess it could be an inflammation that comes and goes but unless they find out what exactly it is or what may cause it i can not have the right treatment. take care

That happened to my brother and it turned out to be a pinched nerve.....not saying that this is your problem. It could be any number of things.
If your doctor can't figure it out, see another doctor.
