Why would anyone have the ridiculous notion that th KJV is the only proper version of the bible? Any decent linguist will tell you it was poorly translated. Also it has only been around about 400 years. Are you saying Christians before that weren't saved? What about the majority of the world that doesn't speak english? The Word is about the content, quit nit-picking and walk in His path. That's more important, isn't it?

There are so many recreations of the bible today. I believe that the bible does help us to put life into a better perspective, but living it and knowing that God is in our hearts & souls, and that God guides us and lets us know what is right or wrong is the best way. If we keep following the bible that has been written, & rewritten over & over again for generations, how are we truly going to want to keep believing? Alot of the verses that are in many bibles have changed. Some have meanings that make sense and then there are others that don't make any sense at all.
I truly believe that we should follow our hearts & souls. Because that is how God is keeping our faith strong in him and is guiding us through life and is also guiding us closer to him.

I read the NIV and the English version. KJV is too hard to understand. Gods word is holy so long as you are reading the true Bible with the Old and New Testament you are doing OK.
Yes you are correct many a nitpickers are out there but be encouraged to know there are still good godly people in the world striving to encourage and make a difference. God bless.

As the title says, it's a version by King James who I understand was not that good of a person. It is still OK to use but I would much rather use the New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures because it's easier to understand and puts Jehovah's name back in the more than 6000 places in the Scriptures where it belongs showing the importance of the Divine Name.

I use the KJV when I want to see the poetry of the Bible, it comes across better.
When I want to hear it in plain english, I use the World English, sometimes the thee's and thou's of the KJV get in the way of me being able to understand.
The one I can't abide is the one that adds in the meaning in parenthesis - I think it's called the American Revised Standard or something like that. To me, that's adding to the Word of God and that's wrong.

The KJV was translated in 1611 and has been translated a few times since. The English spoken today is not the same as what was spoken in 1611. ((I'm not talking about speaking American, I actually mean English.))
I my favorite translation is NCV (New Century Version)...but I also enjoy the NLT (New Living Translation) and NKJV.

It was order to be translated by King James, in the first place, to make it understandable. It's laughable to think that a certain translation is better than another when it is all false. People will find something to fight about even when there's nothing to it.

Good point...but let's say "mistaken" instead of "ridiculous."
If somebody tried to publish today a novel written in 16th Century English, they would be met with a blank stare from every editor.
I enjoy the prose and the cadence of the KJB...but if I'm seriously trying to understand a Biblical issue...I prefer to read one translated into the vernacular (plus one that hasn't had certain chapters and verses excised from it!)

To my understanding, the KJV is one of the worst versions, because King James took out things he didn't like, and added stuff that he wanted.
I am partial to the Oxford unabridged, myself.

no matter what version one uses there is a possibility that there are inaccurate statements. after all the original language can't be read by the average person today. and translators can sometimes cause more harm than good.

I don't know. I've been to a church that thought that way. I prefer something that I can understand a little better myself.
