In ancient times the Ganges water was pure & medicinal as it came down flowing over many herbs over the Himalayas.Hence in olden days it used to cure diseases too & so was considered holy.
But now it has got polluted due to carelessness of today's man & his selfish nature.
Following the principles taught by Rama/Krishna......(great men)is the surest way of cleansening the mind & pleasing them.
Sant Kabirdas says :
Your mind is dirty but you are busy cleaning your body
You aspire for flowers but you are sowing the seeds of thorns.

This is all blind faith i don't belive in such foolishness as the holy water is named "holy" by us (human) and by the name of holiness we r contaminating it by bathing in it , putting flowers in it..illiterate people do not think for the second time and just do the things they r been told by their own illiterate ancestors....it is foolishness to belive tht by having bath in such water our diseases will be cured..I totally disagree with this..

Even if it is contaminated - impure - its only our bhakti that counts. A sincere devotee will not hesitate just because the water is seemingly dirty.

No wonder, I personally have felt it - it really gives mental peace - shanti.
