we all say it and ...or BUT there are many unspoken conditions and circumstances that would justify and call for renegging on that "forever" promise - how can two people speak that promise and mean it knowing full well that it is not really written in stone. Is it beautiful romantic talk or is it real?

In my experience it means until something better comes along!

It has to be beautiful romantic talk because divorce is getting extremely more popular. No one respects the sanctity of marriage anymore because its so easy to get out and and jump in another one. I think the law should start enforcing people to live by their vows. Only problem is that since forever is until one of 2 dies, the murder rate would probably go up.

Forever is when you stop thinking you have an option to leave. Forever means there is no escape hatch. You don't "try" or "see what happens"- you make it work. You do it. It's not a word, it's an action and a belief and a character strength about keeping promises.

I think FOREVER is just something that people say when they are in LUST!!! I mean, people say forever all the time, but how often does "forever" really happen. Damn, look how high the divorce rate is these days... maybe one should look up the defenition of Forever until they speak the word!

I believe it means ..." till death do us part ", there are people out there who are responsible enough to take their vows seriously....and work out their issues instead of opting for the easy way out or the perception of .... " the grass is greener on the other side"
You are right it is not written in stone.......but it depends on the individuals and their core beliefs in life.......
Though for some it is real.... the promise of forever.... it was for me and sometimes......for others ... life ... circumstances.....makes it difficult for them ......and their choices are taken away from them. It is sad to see the institution of marriage changing with the times.

My wife and I are a forever couple!!!

We are totally committed to each other. What makes us a forever couple is that we are totally honest with each other. We do not keep secrets from each other. We both know each other through and through. I know how she feels about me and she knows how I feel about her.

Many people go into relationships with alterior motives and their relationships fail. You have to go into your relationship out of total love and commitment. Everyone needs to go into relationships with their significant others like some people love their pets. That way, many more people would have forever relationships.

Take care,
Troy

It is only romantic talk. and as for unspoken conditions, those are deadly, get it all out in the open, Or admit it is only temporary

Its wishful thinking what this really means is:
Until we are no longer a couple.

If forever ment forever it would mean until YOU are dead. not the other person. thats why marriage "vows" are a crock. They are only in effect until your partner dies then you are "free" to find someone else - even though you made a prommise of "forever".

There are those that say FOREVER and mean it. However, FOREVER has come to be like Love... Guys will say, "I love you." because they know a woman needs to hear it in order to give sex to the guy...

Forever, til death do us part. Forever=unless I find another hot babe that I want to be with.

i believe that forever lasts for as long as the two people remain exactly how, what and who they are when the 'forever' promise is given. which doesn't seem to last too long from my experience.
