I would do it like an old dinner setting, ever been in one of these? Bench seats, lots of polished metal all over the place, neon light on the ceiling. Do some searchers for old diners you will see what I mean.

I'm not an interior decorator but have you looked at any antique stores in your area or
you can find alot of antique stuff on e-bay!
What kind of colors do you want in your theme?
If you know the colors you want to stick with then finding furniture will be easier.
When I think of Elvis and Marilyn Monroe
I think of these colors:
You could do black with red accessories
or black and white accessories
or red with white accessories
or White with Red accessories
and so on and so forth
I hope this helps

go to Walmart or a fabric store to find "oldies" type fabric, Circles, bright funky colors... make pillows, curtains, bed spread or throws. Frame old records and put them on the walls (Elvis of course) Go to antique/junk stores or yard sales to find old funky furniture. I have seen a lot lately. Good luck

keep in mind that this time period used a lot of candy apple reds chrome and teal some black i don't know how diy you are but the home improvement stores have a lot of metal trims and fabric stores have the red plastic that can cover chairs or a table , you could do a red wash on bottom half of wall with black molding and hang your pictures above or use the metal trim as molding

Go to your library and look at photos (or look up photos) from that era. I know that you can find chairs that look like lipsticked lips and high heels, but that can be trashy. Look at the styles of furniture from then and try to modify existing furniture to look simular, if by nothing else by color. Remember it doesn't have to be perfect. Have fun with it. Plus - if you're not sure what else could go, most likely no one else will know what doesn't go, hence you're the only one who'll know if there's mistakes.
