I think junk food is addictive due to all the additives/sugars/salt etc in it. This is what makes it taste good and makes us want more. I used to have a terrible diet and McDonalds was a big weakness. I just had to go 'cold turkey' and completely give it up. Give yourself a motivation such as a weight loss target, a pair of jeans you want to fit into or find an unflattering photo of yourself and pin it to the fridge to motivate you to change how you look. Eat at least 3 balanced, healthy meals a day. Don't skip meals or starve yourself. Drink plenty of water to help feel 'full' and snack on low fat yogurts, fruit and vegetables. Allow yourself a treat now and then as a reward = everything in moderation. Add to this a bit of exercise you enjoy and can stick to and do it 3 times a week for 30 mins+. It could be walking, jogging, swimming, dance class or workout DVD. You should notice the difference and once you do it will motivate you to stick at it :)

Maybe, there are underlying issues other than cravings for junk food. Sometimes, we eat when we are bored, depressed, nervous, and so on. And sometimes our body is chemically deprived with electrolytes that junk food can remedy, for example salt (chips has a lot of salt.) If you want to beat the junk food battle, first you have to commit to a changed lifestyle. There are other food substitute than junk food that your body can actually benefit from when cravings hit. Second, and it's almost a cliche, exercise, exercise, exercise! Start by getting into a habit of exercising, walking is best. Schedule exercise like you schedule getting up, going to work, eating, sleeping, and so on. Good luck to you and again it's a lifestyle change and it's not easy but I encourage you, you will feel much better.

Stop eating junk food...that might help. having trouble doing so. How about this...Get a jar and label it Junk food money then everytime you want to buy junk food, put that money in the jar instead. Its like a savings account then when you see how easy it is to lay off the junk food you can go buy a new outfit with the money you saved.

1. Get rid of the junk food in your house and don't buy more
2. Buy healthier options that are sweet and satisfy your cravings but are better for you. Fruits raw veggies. If you like sweeter stuff and aren't allergic to nuts I like the Kashi go lean snack bars and I like waffles with sugar free syrup for a snack (my husband likes those un-sweetened single serving apple sauce and the no sugar added pudding snacks).
3. If you just have to have snacks try those single serving snacks like Pringles singles and limit yourself to 1 at a sitting
4. Caution!!! If you buy the sugar free snacks be very careful to read the labels for "sugar alcohol" It will say may cause a laxative effect but what it really means is... causes MAJOR gut cramps(think along the lines of "I feel like I just ate ground glass" and the pain is awful) it happens when you eat too many and it is not something I would wish on anyone.
If you cut out the snacks, sugar, and carbs you will eventually get used to it and the cravings will fade. Let yourself have a cheat day once or twice a month so you don't binge later.

You should have a balanced diet. If you eat, for example, five junk food snacks a day, reduce it down to one junk food a day, and eat healthier foods for the other four.
P.S. I know it's hard. I like junk food too. In fact, I'm going to have a Krispy Kreme doughnut right after I finish writing this!

There is a such thing as good and bad junk food. You just have to eat the ones that are sugar free and that are low in fat and watch the times that you are eatting junk food. The sugar free stuff is not bad tasting it sounds like it might be because we see sugar free. Give it a try and you just might be surprised.

simple calorie and protein packed regular diet and a lot of exercise will keep you fit and get you into habit of eating 3 meals a day. Exercise will take your mind off boredom and tv when you tend to eat a lot of junk food. Walking and jogging are good starters. you can start with 5 kn or miles a day and progress to 20. Dont do weights in the initial period since a lot of fat will help hernias and pulls to occur.

You should definately get into the habbit of drinking lots of water. I used to snack a lot too and then I got myself used to drinking water, about 1 1/2 liters a day, and that takes away my snack cravings big time.
