It's been over 20 years since I went to boot camp, but basically, just the clothes on your back, and maybe a little spending money (at that time, the max was $15). Everything else will be issued to you, and if you do bring more, it will just boxed up and shipped home, including the clothes you wear when you arrive. And, they should already have copies of all the documents they need, so you don't need those.

You seriously need to check with your recruiter. They should provide you with a list of items that you can take with you. Don't try to figure it out on your own. There are so many items that are prohibited and you don't want to start off boot camp on the wrong foot. You can only take certain things, in certain sizes. You will have the opportunity to buy things while you are in basic. Typically, the only clothing you will take with you is what you wear the day you go to boot camp. They will issue your military clothing at boot camp. You will never wear civilian clothing at boot camp anyway. There is ton of documentation that you have to take with you. Again, talk with you recruiter, make sure you take everything you need. Your recruiter is there to guide you.

I will pass on the same advice that was given to me when I went to basic. Get yourself a good sports watch like the casio gshock. Being on time in the military is paramount. Drills seem to forget the day you missed a spot shaving or maybe boots do not look just so but they are unforgiving when you are late. Also once through processing a watch will be the only civilian thing left kind of a connection with the outside world during basic. Remember during basic none of it is personal it is a drill Sgt just doing his job as a good soldier, tow the line and you will pull through fine

sure! you will sense so a lot greater mushy. i'm a counselor-in-coaching at a woman Scout camp, and we've dissimilar females convey their own boots. The camp could have a gaggle of trainers and require that each and every individual positioned on a pair - hence, you're able to desire to positioned on your guy or woman as a exchange of donning some that may not in good shape precise. this is greater effective to be secure than sorry :)

Good running shoes, toothbrush, deodorant. Anything else will be locked in a closet when you arrive at your BCT site. I was in BCT in 1991 at Ft. Jackson SC. I'm completely serious. You don't get to keep anything. You only got to hold onto about $10. When you get paid, the DI will take you to the PX or shoppette and you will buy money orders and send the rest of the money home.

Copies of your birth cert, HS diploma and Drivers license. Little else except the clothes on your back otherwise they will take it away anyway.
Just a tip as I was told by my Drill Sergeant- Keep your eyes and ears open, mouth shut and head down, you'll do fine!
Good luck!

You actually don't need to bring anything, unless you want to. But they'll give you some money, and take you to the PX as soon as you get there, to grab anything you need.

I would actually suggest that you not bring anything, to be honest. The reason I say this is carrying baggage with you is only going to slow you down, as they shuffle you from place to place, in a bit of a hurry. :) Traveling light will allow you to concentrate on doing what they tell you, as opposed to fumbling around with all your crap.

You will keep nothing, not even the civvies you wear. It all gets sent home, by you. So, if you feel like supporting the post office, bring whatever you like. I'm not kiddin, they leave you with nothing, except your wallet, and I'm not even sure about that. As I recall, they may take that too, and return it upon graduation.

the clothes on your back and white socks. If you're talking army, they're going to make you buy everything on the packing list as soon as you get there. They just don't tell you that.

bring yourself, common sense, listening ability, a willingness to do your best at everthing tasked to you, your I.D. and a thirst to be the best. Everything else will be issued to you.
