when you say memory you could be referring to 1 of 2 things.
1. ram = memory. you would need to unscrew the bottom and then you can just pop in a stick of ram, the higher capacity the better, try this link for ram http://www.upgradememory.com/64MB_Memory_Upgrade_For_IBM_Th_P189350C1432.cfm?UserID=5804516&jsessionid=d230581f598722525769

2. hard drive could equal memory. your best bet if you want a hard drive upgrade is to get an external one. at circuit city you can purchase a 500GB western digital "my book" for about $200 which is a steal, 250 gig for about $100.
you could also try online retailers such *** tigerdirect.com or newegg.com.

You can only add up to its limit. My i-series has about 200 Mb and my 770 has about the same I think. You need to find out what the limit is and add a new RAM. On the bottom there are two covers. The center is where the battery is and the one off in the corner where your Ram is. Do not force these. You spread out the little clips on both sides and the RAM should pop-up to remove. Wear a Static Strap to protect your RAM (Radio Shack) if you careful and not slide around you can keep the Static Down and may be OK without the Strap. I needed more information, but, you may be able to work from this link. http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=TJEK-3QJSSD
IBM is now Lenovo.
