Football hasn't helped me lose weight because I put on around 10 pound a year and my pant size increases by 2 inches a year. When I was a Freshman I was 5'7, and around 160 and wore a 36 pants. and now I am 5'9, 222 pounds and wear a 42 inch pants? Should I lose weight? How?

Yes you are overweight.

You have to stop eating so much. You can start now. Eat better---lay off the burgers, pizza, junk food and sodas. Eat more lean meats, whole grains (no more white bread) and vegetables. When the season is over, then really cut back on carbs (bread, potatoes, rice, pasta) cut back--not out and continue working out through the winter. Next season you'll be a lean, mean fighting machine. LOL Good luck!

Yes, you're clinical obese. You need to see a doctor to get on a weight lose strategy. Don't let folks fool you by telling you that you are just "big boned" or "stocky". In America, we're used to seeing obese people all the time since we are the fattest country on earth. At 5'9", you should be about 160-180 (male) or 140-160 (female).

SEE A DOCTOR.

according to your bmi(body mass index) you are overweight. maybe in your offseason you could try doing some running and dieting.
