We were able to do this with IE6 simply by right clicking the icon and clicking on appearance, then choosing a custom icon. With IE 7, you go through the steps by nothing happens. Does anybody have a fix for this?

Seems a random occurance to me. Did no one else change it? I suppose there is 1029384 different reasons. If it caused you no harm and it7 still works fine then just select the shortcut and hit F2 to change its name. If you are in doubt to your privacy from a virus or whatever, then search google for Mozilla Firefox, personally ie6 does all my needs but millions of people swear by Firefox. Anyways hope someone else can shed more light!
