Shes right almonds and craisens are great on a salad.
You can also try crunchy chowmein noodles. Mandarin orange slices pecans and a nice asian dressing.
Some blue cheese crumbles are a good addition. Well any cheese really.
Does your hubby like corn or peas? You can add those to a salad even green beans. Apple slices are good too.
Bacon crumbles.
At your local supermarket in the spice or dressing aisle look for those jars of salad helper type stuff ...its seasoning for your salad they have different flavors....they arent half bad either.

croutons are good sunflower seeds pumpkin seeds all add good crunch .
Celery?
Chicken Breast or grilled steak strips make a nice salad.
peppers? onions? Salsify his salad then toss in some taco chips and ground meat. shredded cheese and...instant dinner. Ive learned if you put chips and cheese on something MOST men will eat it.

you could aslo take your head of lettuce cut the whole thing into quarters lay one quarter on each plate drizzle it with dressing then add diced tomatos and cukes to make it look different. At least its the stuff he'll eat right?

Good Luck with your picky Hubby I dated a guy who refused to eat peppers onions tomatos peas carrots etc.......that didnt last.

Mama's Almost Cesar Salad (I am Mama by the way!)

1 head of Romaine lettuce chopped in large pieces
8 to 10 bacon strips, cooked and broken into large pieces
2 hard boiled eggs, chopped up
6 green onions, sliced on the diagonal
1 cup sliced fresh mushrooms
1/2 a cup of fresh parsley, chopped
(you can add sliced cucumbers if you like, but they are not in my original recipe)

Gently toss these ingredients together in a large salad bowl, then chill in the fridge.

The Dressing

1 cup of mayonnaise
1/2 a cup sour cream
1 tomato, diced
6 tablespoons white vinegar
4 cloves of chopped roasted garlic (if you want, you can saute them in the bacon grease you will have left from the bacon you fried) Roasted tastes better to me though.
1/2 a cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
1 teaspoon dried basil
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons of black pepper

Blend the dressing ingredients together in a bowl with a whisk, chill if needed

Gently toss the dressing into the salad, adding croutons on top (if desired), and serve with warm garlic bread.

Good Eats!

I find that a little bit of grated parmesan makes salads a tad bit tastier without changing the whole flavor. It looks kinda pretty too when you toss it all up and the parmesan sticks to the leaves. That's why I almost always use some on a salad for a dinner or special occasion.

You could add cheese, hard boiled eggs (chopped up real fine), bacon bits, croutons. Any of them are good added to a salad. As a matter of fact, I'm doing a salad for dinner tonight.

Add Chicken or Tuna to it.

You can add avacados diced up. You can top it off with Cottage Cheese. Or just add shredded cheese.

What about black olives? Sunflower seeds? Add different kinds of lettuce or fresh spinach too.

1) Toast almond slices and add craisins (dried cranberries) toss with raw spinach and dressing (soy vinegar, Asian, balsamic vinaigrette)

2) Romaine, sun-dried tomatoes, bacon-bits, Parmesan, Cesar dressing.

My kids and husband like these.
