Wasn't it the accomplishment of sitting quietly and not touching any of the buttons, knobs and levers in front of him in that long(twelve minute flight) to the carrier.
What gets me is that the press was told that he couldn't take a chopper out to the ship because of the distance. The Lincoln had to steam around for about half an hour to get into a position that didn't show Diego's skyline in the back ground.

The mission accomplished banner was actually part of the aircraft carrier's staff's idea for the staff of the aircraft carrier. It was basically them congratulating themselves. It had nothing to do with Bush or his staff. Victory parties among troops is historical and part of that with the banner was shown. I'm sure most liberals would have liked to have the banner saying, "Wet Paint, do not touch."
