I can't speak for Mohammed, although it isn't difficult to research the philosophical differences between Christianity and the Muslim faith. Mohammed was a conquerer; Jesus was a savior.

There is a nature of violence in HUMANITY, as well as in those who follow religions. Jesus offered the following explanation, and here it is in a nutshell: All of mankind has a destructive nature that rebels against the design of life, spiritually, physically and mentally. Jesus' purpose in coming was to provide the only remedy that could remove that nature and get us on the right track back to the original purpose of man, which is to become the children of God the Father.

This is a process, much like birth. Just like birth, there are birthinig pains along the way, with the greatest pains coming just before the birth. Jesus said that when we see wars, turmoil, coldness of love, false religions, false Christs, broken families, murder and disasters increasing, then we know that the Time is getting nearer for the birth process to be completed.

This process is not without resistance. There is a war in the spiritual realm to abort this birth. The wars and battles you see among religions is the fruit of that warfare in the natural. It will increase the closer we get to the end, just like birthing pains. Jesus said that because of the damaged, sinful nature of man, all the world, both innocent and guilty, good and bad, religious and non-religious, would suffer harm because of it.

When evaluating a religion, don't start with the quality of the adherents; it's not hard to find fault when you loook for it. Look at the philosophy and teachings of the Originator, the one who began the religion. When you see one who gives his life for others, foretells future events, says he will conquer death, then actually does it, you're on to something...

Because we are all human and both religions speak of humanity in the light that we all fall short. It is not those we choose to worship that mislead us. It is when we decide that we have the true answers that we become the violent people that was already born into us. If you look into most religions, most are peaceful, hopeful, full of love and life. I choose to follow Jesus and I believe that one day I will be in Heaven with Him but I do not believe there won't be any Muslims there. Any one that thinks they are the only ones going to Heaven will be in for a rude awakening one day. It's all about the Love and that can come from any heart. No matter what part of this world they were born in or raised to believe. It's love of your fellow man. The violence isn't right. I think we all inside pray for peace on earth. I know I do.

Jesus said that faith in Him will be a sword in the family. Today family will disown someone who believes in Jesus Christ. Sometimes even kill new Christian. Jesus said that those who live by the sword die by the sword when Peter took a sword and cut off someones ear. Jesus healed the man and his ear.

Also Mohammed did encourage spreading Islam with the sword. Kill the unbelievers where ever you find them... If a family members fall from faith in Islam, person could get the death sentence. New Christian gets 3 chances to repent and turn back to Islam. Many times it is their own family that kills them. The sword of Jihad comes from Mohammed teachings.

Religion promotes self righteousness. People judge others as being evil and excuses violence against them. That is why Jesus said to judge not lest you be judged.

Yes, you are correct that both Jesus (pbuh) and Mohamed (pbuh) were peaceful. The violence that's arising in this world is because of the different interpretations of the messages brought by these people. Everyone believes their religion is the one and true path.

Just because Jesus and Mohamed were peaceful doesn't mean their followers are. Everyone is human and limited by that definition.

With every religous organization there will always be an extreme fundamentalist within its structure. Not all Christians serve God every day(hence the phrase Sunday Christians, those that worship on one day and sin the rest of the week) Within these flawed structures are ppl that murder, lie cheat steal, only to run to the altar for forgiveness on Sunday morning. People want to be able to express themselves whether or not its by obstructing the other views of those that arent in accordance with them,(the Iraqi's that suicide bomb to prove points) and shamefully, these radicals tend to seek justification for their wicked actions from their religions

we are human... if Jesus taught love and following the righteousness of God and to push evil away, then we as Believers in Him shouldnt listen to others' interpretations but only to His words. Paul didnt live by the sword. Neither did Peter. In fact, Jesus asked Peter if He was ready to do the same thing, and Peter was later crucified upside down, by non believers... It is human nature to get rid of those who dont agree with you. Same for every single atheist, agnostic, christian, jew, muslim, buddhist, and hinduist. every group on the face of this earth has commited genocide in their own way because someone had their own "bright idea". it is the effect of people falling away from God and thinking on their own. that is why you hear so much hate in this question and answer forum.

Because the people who worship within the religion aren't peaceful. Human beings love to try to force what they want onto others. That's not the religions fault, it's the fault of the people that follow it.

Because the messages of both Jesus and Mohammed have been perverted to increase and maintain the power of clerics of both religions.

"Never put your life in the hands of the priests!"

And "Never let the b******s grind you down!"

Greetings!

Did you ever stop to think that they were only people? I am a philosopher and I am peaceful, so then are all philosophers peaceful?

They were the type of men, that men wanted to be like, that they made them Godly. Big mistake.
If indeed these were Godly men, with Godly powers, we would have been toasted long ago.

Good Luck
