So why is belief in a supernatural God ok? Remember, you can't have it both ways, either belief in the supernatural is wrong or it's right. Who are you to choose which is correct. If you answer "because the bible says so" your answer will be stricken as being invalid. Rational, coherent responses, pro or con, would be appreciated.

Well, Kim C and JAM didn't qualify as neither of their answers were rational or coherent. Disappointing.

Well now, I've been insulted, told I don't know the bible....hmmmmm. That's the best Christians can do. Again disappointing. Oh yes for the record, I have an M.A. in Theology from Victoria College, Oxford, so I think I may know a little more than some you loving Christians think.

Ok, so it's the source apparently...hmmm, so then Mahatma Ghandi is rotting hell and the Dalai Lama will also being heading that way, because they have a different belief, even though they have done more good for the world than most Christians. Okie Dokie, I think we all can see what's what.

I don't really understand where so many of these people here think that people who practice certain things are paying homage to the devil. Pagans and/or wiccans do not believe in the devil. It is far more strange that Catholics and Christians actually do believe is this "devil'.
Take praying as another example..is that not really asking some force to help the person in need? I dont see how that is much different than what practicing pagans do. Don't both practices light incense and candles and have symbols important to thier practice?

The word occult has a very negative connotation to the religious. Aren't spells from good people good spells? There are bad people of every belief. I heard a pentecostal holy roller say that god has supernatural powers. Of course, that was in between the gibberish.

We don't brand belief in the supernatural as being bad; we look to the SOURCE of the supernatural occurance. If it's something God has done, we have no issue with it; if it's from some other source, it's bad.
Why does this confuse you?
Peace.

According to them "Occult" means something evil, set up by Satan, etc... All it means though is "Hidden/Mystery"... so even their own religion would fall under that heading, ie: The Mysteries of God... His thoughts are above our thoughts, etc... This is "Occultic" in nature. It's just like the words Cult, Esoteric, Heathen, Pagan... the definitions THEY use are not always the true definitions of the words and are usually used as insults, rather than used to define something in general.

lol. Because the Christians equate anything that is not about the supernatural god with being evil. Hypocrites.

As a Christian, belief in the supernatural is not wrong. You need to be informed on a topic before criticizing. Supernatural forces are all around us at all times. Supernatural forces come from one of two sources, God or Satan. Anything supernatural that is in contradiction with God's word, is not of Him. If it's not of God, it's of the devil. So, PRACTICING, not belief in, supernatural powers that are not of God are considered to be wrong by Christian standards.

from my personal understanding the belief in the occult is bad because most of the time those who are using various means are going against what many Christians believe to be " evil ways " to gain knowledge in whatever topic it is, rather than by using approved Christian methods.

Wow. I never looked at it that way in that point before. Your right. It does seem quite two-sided to say one thing, yet do another. (Don't count on any Christian believers to dispute without bringing up the bible, friend. That's their lifeline)

Belief in the occult is wrong because it is to do with the devil and demonic, who are real but occult is the worship of them. It has nothing to do with it being supernatural God is supernatural. It is about the source.
