I would go for the pocket knives - not everyone drinks & would need/want a flask & I have no idea what anyone would do with a sword! lol You could have the pocket knives engraved with the
guys names . . . that would be a very nice personal touch!

A pocket knife is a completely acceptable groomsmen gift. Be sure it is nice and try to get one that you can have engraved with the date and a thank you message.
A flask would be ok as a gift. Personally I would pick something else. A flask does not seam to be in the sprit of a wedding.
In most cases a sword would be not be a good groomsmen’s gift. Only in cases where the sword would fit with you wedding and/or you groomsmen would this be a good idea. A wedding with a renaissance theme or if your groomsmen where all fencers are examples of when a sword would be an expectable gift.
Other ideas:
Money Clip, Wallet, Pocket Watch
You may want to select something that focuses on something about your groomsmen. For instance if they all play baseball try a bat with an engraved bat stand. The same thing could be done with footballs or basketballs.
Regardless of what the gift is it should be engraved or have a box or stand that is engraved.
Bellow is a page that should give you some great ides.

Sounds good to me. Especially the pocket knife. If you know they'd use it, the flask would be nice, too. Either one of those things can be engraved to make it a little more personal and special.
I, personally, like the sword idea, but I don't know any of your groomsmen, so I don't know if they'd be into that. I like to display swords and daggers, and if they do too, then a sword would be a cool, unexpected gift.
Good luck and congratulations!

Pocket knives are great, but a sword, to me is just an excellent idea. It is something that will last, and if anything can be hung on a wall as a reminder of your friendship. Its different than the standard ho-hum gifts.Theres nothing wrong with men getting sappy on occasion too ya know!

There's nothing wrong with a pocket knife.
My fiance got for his groomsmen Swiss Army money clips. They have the small knife, scissors, and file included, and he had their initials engraved on the top side of the money clip. They cost about $35 with S&H included (he also paid for their tux rental for the wedding). You can see them on the Swiss Army website.

I was the best man at my friends wedding and he got me a personalized pocket knife as a gift. It is bad ***, I use it all the time and every time I do I remember what it was for.

pocket knives are a good idea, it's actually something that's useful, opposed to most groomsmen/bridesmaid gifts. a flask is a good one too. see about getting their initials engraved in them for a personal touch.

I wasn't into the same gifts that people get over and over either. Since my groomsmen are all into baseball we got them all--Rawling bats that were engraved. They said "Most Valuable Groomsmen" "Joe Smith" presented by our names and then our wedding date. They came out sooo nice and the groomsmen absolutely loved them!

pocket knife is perfect, there isn't a guy on the planet who won't use it and like it. :) (Even if he already has one, you can never have too many!)
