Nah, the tower of Babel was destroyed because the people were trying to insult God by building a tower to heaven, the twin towers were run into by a bunch of misguided, towel-topped terrorists.

"...and lo! The merchants of the world spoke among themselves, and did agree, saying, 'Here we sit, tending to our markets when there are other markets we wit not of. Let us globalize, and pool our markets for we may therein find cost savings we knew not before.'
"And they did globalize and pool their markets, and yea, they did find laborers who would work long hours for low pay, without the encumbrance of labor laws or environmental laws or other loathsome benefits. And the merchants spoke to their old employees, saying unto them, 'It is the economy, stupid. You demand health care and insurance, paid vacations and cost-of-living increases, safety equipment and procedures, and all manner of concessions that add no value to your work, yea, they but increase the cost and make them undesireable in the marketplace. Should we not consider the miserable poor who are able to work longer, harder and faster than such as you?'
"And the merchants did outsource, and lo, their expenses did fall, and their profits did rise exceedingly. And they spoke again among themselves, saying, 'It is as we prophesied. All markets are nearly one and our increase is great. Let us build a tower, No! Let us build two towers of exceedingly great height from which we may oversee our final market consolidation. Then we shall be as gods, controlling the buying and selling of all things.'
"And God saw their intentions and the towers they had built and lo, they were exceedingly high. And God said to himself, 'They haver lost all fear of my justice and all sense of my compassion. I think it may be time for a smiting...'"
