and Jesus was dead for three days before he "rose from the dead", does that mean that God was also dead for three days?

No. The Bible clearly shows God, Jesus and the Holy Ghost doing different things at the same time (ex: baptism of Jesus).

I do not believe in the trinity doctrine, but those who do have to wonder about this----
Jesus was dead for the better part of three days. If Jesus is God and was dead for that long--then who was ruling in heaven all that time? If the holy spirit is also God, then it was dead too. So there would have been no God alive to pray to those three days, no God to do anything for anyone. Satan could have taken over the entire universe since "God" was dead. Satan is powerful and could have caused complete chaos for the earth, worse than we see now, if there was no God more powerful to prevent him from doing so.

The Blessed Trinity a mystery of faith. God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit three divine persons in one. Jesus did experience a physical death but not a spiritual death. He descended to the dead or Sheol to preach the good news of the gospel and returned three days later to remain on earth for 40 days until his ascension into heaven.

The idea of the Trinity is that the Father, Son and Holy Spirit are "of the same substance" (Homoosius- from the Greek). When Jesus walked among us in human form, His essence was like that of the Father and Holy Spirit. It does not mean that God was "dead" for those 3 days.

If Jesus and God were same person yes. But Jesus and God were not the same person. The idea of Jesus being fully man and fully God is mind boggling, but, Jesus prayed to the Father, showing the coexistense of God the son and God the father. Were they different Gods? no. They are One God in three persons, one essense, but each having their own persons, God the father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. That is why Jesus said that I go to prepare a place for you, but I will send my helper. They coexist without being different Gods. Muddy at best. but there ya go.

The BODY of Jesus was dead for three days. The spirit is eternal.

Sounds like somebody slept through Sunday School.... In the Christian religion, Jesus/the Son, God/the Father, and the Holy Spirit are three parts of the being.
It's like a three-leaf clover - three separate leaves that are part of one whole clover. Or you can think of it like your mind, body, and spirit - if your mind goes to sleep, your body still lives; if your spirit is numb/dead, your mind still functions; if your body is hurt, your spirit can still soar.
So even if Jesus's physical form was dead, his spirit still lived and mingled with God and the Holy Spirit.

Jesus himself said; Jehovah our God is one Jehovah which shows that God is even God of Jesus, Jesus in heaven is subject to God, and Scriptures point out that Jesus was created by God as he has a beginning but God does not, He always was. Jehovah is called Creator but Jesus is called God's Master Worker and the Word, or chief spokesperson. The Bible says God alone is immortal, the Bible has Scripture that identify Michael the Archangel as Jesus in his prehuman existence, and it was Michael which means, Who is like God?, that was with God when God said; let us make man in our image.
