Whatever gave you that idea?
At least with christianity and islam, both their "holy books" and their history since inception are filled with violence. The god of the old testament in the bible describes himself as "vengeful, jealous, angry," etc. -- and frequently has his followers wipe out whole populations because they won't believe in him. He supposedly kills all the humans on earth in "the flood" except Noah and his family because he screwed up making humans, doesn't like how they're turning out, and wants to start over. The concepts of "holy war" exist in both religions, and are frequently encouraged.
Despite jesus' calls for peace in the new testament (jesus was a liberal!), his followers have in the last 2000 years still gone off on crusades and inquistions, killing millions in his name.
So whatever gave you the idea that "peace" and religion go hand in hand? There is no evidence of any kind to support that...
