No, you don't need to get the same make/brand memory card as your camera. Just be sure to get the correct type CF, SD, xD, etc. for your camera.

you can use any memory card for your camera..i have a kodak camera but my memory card isn't..i haven't had any probllems with it either...just make sure that the memory card that you purchase fits into your camera

You can use other cards other than MMC cards which are used for mobile phones. Sony mobile phone card can be used in Sony digital camera.

They dont have to match, as long as it fits. I use my memory card for everything.
