God the Father is the Creator. All praise and thanks go to Him for creation.
Jesus is the Son of the one true God. He is the Christ and the Savior. He is the way of Salvation.

That is one Idolatry that Christians are leading to. They are now being lead into really believing that God the Father, Jesus the Son and the Holy Spirit as One and telling their congregation that whoever they call among the three will just be the same. Their ultimate Goal is to later on for people to mention more of the name of Jesus since they really do not know the name of the Father. Satan will finally win over God later when people get use to call on Jesus which has been happening in many cases. Christian prayers are now recited oftentimes ending it with "in the name of Jesus." Soon they will all give praise and thanks to Jesus only. Catholics are also in danger of replacing God for the Queen of Heaven as they have already started practicing to call on the Mother first if you want to get the attention of the Son who in turn will pass it on to the Father for the grace you asking for. Have you heard about a popular phrase about Mary the Mother, " If God closes the door for you in heaven, go around and you will find that the Mother will open the window." It sounds that the justice of God can be circumvented by some influences like the favors from our human government's office. But may I warn you, "Proverbs 16:25 There is way that seems right to man, but in the end leads to death."

Christians believe that Jesus IS God and was present at creation. John 1:1. Therefore, it is appropriate to thank Jesus for beautiful sunsets. It is not disrespectful.

The Bible says that Jesus, the Holy Spirit, and God the Father are one in the same. They are a Trinity. I do not believe that it is necessarily wrong to thank Jesus for a sunset, but I do believe it is good to say thank you to at least one of them, is it not? I think maybe it's kind of defeating the purpose if you worry about who to thank.

In the beginning the word was with God and the word is God.Word=Jesus=God.
Did you thank God for the sunsets and the "other stuff"?
I think that the person that you heard has their values just where they need to be. Thankful for a beautiful sunset, that he can see with eyes and can appreciate with peace and joy. So much in one little statement. I think it says alot about him. and you for questioning.
be blessed in Christ.

let me ask you this. is it wrong to thank Jesus for your house? answer: NO. and it's not wrong to thank Jesus for a beautiful sunset... true, God made the sunset for all of us to see.
But dude, remember we are SINNERS and if it weren't for Jesus, you wouldn't be here to see the sunsets God made. Jesus died on the cross for your sins, so you can live and see the sunrise and sunset and have your own house.
Jesus is always around. He came here as a human being and He's still around as a spirit. He's in your heart, but if you keep on pushing Him out, then you wont feel Him. He keeps on knocking on your heart's door, you just have to answer it.
And as for the dude who said "Thank you Jesus for Hurricane Katrina," yes, you should thank Him for the hurricane. If it werent for Katrina, people in the U.S. won't be helping each other since nothing bad happened. Everything happens for a reason, and if it weren't for that hurricane, people in U.S. will continue to live in prejudice.

John 1 speaks directly about Jesus Christ.
John 1:3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
Colossians 2: 9 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.
Colossians 1:15 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:
16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:

actually this is based on the realization that Jesus was God in the flesh. That person who said it much have understood the concept of the Trinity = God the Father, God the Son & God the Holy Spirit.

Jesus states clearly he is not God. So yes it is wrong.
We thank God in Jesus's name as christians. But some do believe in the trinity which is the father, son, and holy spirit as one being. Perhaps this person was Catholic. At least this person is trying though.

News Flash,,,,everything that was made was created by JESUS CHRIST.
Colossians 1:
15 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:
16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:
17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.
18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.
19 For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell;
Revelation 4:11 Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.
Fro the one that said we should not thank Jesus for anything...HE paid for YOUR sin....JESUS was nailed to a cross and you refuse to thank HIM for that?
You need to check this out:
John 5:23 That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him
