Spanish Rice.
Use a slow cooker. Cook a chuck roast in it until it is nice and tender. Warning. It won't be tender unless you put it in there fresh. If it has ever been frozen it will come out rubbery. Use fresh meat only that has never been frozen. Cut this into cubes AFTER it has been cooked.
Take a pound of bacon and dice it before it is cooked. This is alot easier to do if you freeze the bacon first and then allow it to thaw just a bit. Fry this up in a pan and drain it. Do not fry it until crisp. You want it to be cooked but soft.
Now, put the rice (amount depends on how many people) in a large pot. Basmati rice is best. Add the chuck roast and the bacon. Add 1 jar of Prego three cheese tomato sauce. Add a couple of tablespoons of fresh garlic and at least 1 tablespoon each of pepper and fresh oregnao (if you can find it). You can get the correct color for the rice by adding saffron. But, this doesn't effect the taste at all. Optionally, add a tablespoon of salt. Add water until there is half an inch to an inch of liquid covering the rice. More liquid means a longer cook time and softer rice. Bring to a boil. Stir thoroughly as you do this or stuff will stick to the bottom of the pot. Once it boils, reduce heat to a simmer and cover. Let it cook for 45 minutes to an hour. Then mix it thoroughly when its done and allow it to cool a bit before serving.
Delicious.

Something My family likes is a Pork Stew.
It is pretty easy and is something fairly priced. depending on the size of your family you might try this get a nice size boneless pork roast. onions carrots either sweet potatoes or regular potatoes
your choice. Now you can either use a Crock pot or a large pot on the stove (remember that it will take less time on the stove.
Season your roast with salt and pepper and brow it quickly on the top of you stove place chopped onions in pot put roast on top of onions add about a cup of water and simmer roast for about and hour. add other Veggies ( such as your potatoes) The ones that take longer to cook first. Now you can add what ever types of Veggies you would prefer but I use potatoes, carrots, tomatoes,
Corn Lima beans, Or whatever I feel like at the time. Sometime I don't peel my regular potatoes. To add texture and nutrients. In the crock pot this can cook all day on the stove you can vary the time as you need to I add bay leaf Or other seasons to my taste.
Hope this helps I some times make corn bread or Biscuits and a nice Salad for a "stick- to your Ribs" meal. Hope this helps

The easiest and best recipe I can think of is Chicken, sausage, and shrimp gumbo... EVERYONE makes it different... read on:
Chicken, Sausage and Shrimp Gumbo
1 large frying chicken
salt and pepper to taste
1 pound sausage, sliced
1 pound shrimp (the weight is for peeled, deveined shrimp)
1 large onion, chopped
1 quart of diced tomatoes
1 package (16 ounces) frozen cut okra
Gumbo file'
Bay Leaf
Boil chicken; cover, reduce heat, and simmer about 45 minutes or until tender. Cool. Remove meat from bones… save the chicken broth. Add chicken, broth –except for 2-3 cups, onion, tomatoes to stockpot, cook over medium-low almost simmer heat for several hours. In the meantime, while the soup is simmering, make the roux and add to the soup while it simmers:
ROUX:
1/3 cup oil
1/3 cup flour
Salt/Pepper to taste
In any heavy saucepan or frying pan, stir together flour, oil, salt and pepper until smooth. Cook over medium-high heat until it starts to brown, stirring constantly. When the mixture starts to brown, reduce the heat to medium and continue cooking, stirring constantly, until the roux is very dark brown… getting closed to burned. Quickly add stock and water to make a gravy (2-3 cups) and add to soup. Simmer
About 15-20 minutes prior to serving add the okra and shrimp. Can be served with rice.

I even have this large dip I make and when I take it someplace, each physique loves it. you should use it with tostitos chips or Ritz crackers, the two way the dip makes it flavor the main suitable. it quite is elementary and so quickly. (2) 8 ozof cream cheese (a million) Jar of elementary or warm salsa (2) cups of shredded cheese (a million) tomato decrease up into small products (sufficiently small to put in your mouth. this might serve a minimum of 12 ppl...in case you may make allot in simple terms double up the quantity of each component. you isn't sorry! you combine the cream cheese and the salsa jointly in a mixing bowl. as quickly as you combine all of it jointly you are able to positioned it in the two a sq. dip pan or a bowl. You unfolded the shredded cheese & tomato on suitable of the dip to make it look extraordinarily. it is so sturdy I make it for each occasion and for buddies. by way of fact the cream cheese is already chilly you do no longer could kick back or heat something. it quite is achieved in approximately 10 minutes.
