Good question! That's one of the reasons I hate public restrooms. When someone walks past the stall and I can see them (Which means they can see me), it's mortifying. I've actually had a child stick their little face against the gap and ask me if I was almost done! It was quite embarassing.

I would use something a little more dense, like rolled up towels. You can buy a threshold and weather strip like on a front door but it would be ugly. Are you sure that all the noise is just coming under the door and not through the walls. On most homes the reason there is a gap under the door is so the HVAC system can work properly. Usually the gap is around 1/2". The air that comes out of the register in that room needs to return to the return register and wouldn't be able to if the door was closed and there wasn't a gap.

I never thought about this. However, do you really think that people look through those gaps. I know i certainly do not, i have no desire to see another human being using the rest room. Perhaps you should put your thoughts together and put a design together get it a patent and sell them. Then we will have gap free, snoop free restroom doors. Have a great day, God bless

Excellent question! I would also like to know what dumb azz decided to put a huge toilet paper dispenser right where you have to shift your legs if you are a woman? Or the moron that decided to put the garbage can a half mile from the sinks so that there's a continual irrigation ditch on the floor?

Maybe some people get the door stuck and the only way to get out is to craw under the door. That never happened to me I just have a big imagination.

I have seen some stalls with small gaps, but I think it's because of safety reasons. What if kids locked themselves in, would you want to see if they were there? Or what about the woman who gave birth in the bathroom stall recently? I also think it helps with claustrophobia (sp?) But idk, as long as it's not unisex bathrooms with perves im good!
