I am looking to buy a camera for an 11 year old girl. I don't have a clue where to start. She LOVES taking pictures so I would like to get her one that takes good quality pics but is sturdy because she is still young. Any help would be GREAT! THANKS!

Uhhmmm, my take on this depends on how well this young girl takes care of her things. If she appreciates gifts and knows that if it gets broken there may not be another one coming her way then, spend a little more and go for a Canon, Sony, or Nikon. If she is rather haphazard with things get the cheapest one you can find at around 2.5 to 3.0 mega pixels for a digital. Look for a good size LCD screen to preview pictures. Over 2 inches should be good. You will also want one that is easy to transfer pictures to a computer or a docking station on a printer. Some cameras come as an outfit with these included. I mentioned digital here because if she LOVES to take pictures it will be a lot easier on the wallet to print and share only the good ones as opposed to film where you pay for every pic good or bad.

Are you talking Digital or Analogue!??

Best digital for first time users is any of the HP or Koday Easy Share range(Comes with Postcard Printer-with some retailers as a Reduced Price Bundle)

For Analogue-then check out second hand camera exchanges- Look at either Canon AE-1.A-1 or if you lean towards Nikon then look for any 'F' Range Nikon!
All great to use and a Good beginners camera!

There's a new digital camera coming out for kids this xmas. It is suppose to be good and reliable since it might be dropped.
