If your local hardward store doesn't have any suggestions, try any of your basic household solvents (rubbing alcohol, varsol, turpentine, acetone etc.) but not all at once and not all in the same place. I'd try the varsol first. You might check the ingredients in anyone of the basic paint-stripping gels. It might be a different solvent that might work if the others don't, or if one of the others do work and the gel is the same ingredient, the gel will help hold it in place (rather than soaking a rag with the solvent of choice and sitting it on the glue).

Is it that black stuff that's as complicated as a rock? That stuff is indestructible attempt the warmth gun thought yet i do no longer think of it is going to all come off. may be time for some new drywall in that section. i've got got here upon redrywalling is lots swifter and much less complicated than attempting to do away with that stuff.
