I'm a juvenile probation officer in Indiana. The minimum requirements in Indiana is to have a bachelor's degree from an accredited college, be over 21, be an American citizen, and be of good moral character.

My bachelor's degree is in History, and I also have a master's in Education. I know quite a few officers who majored in criminal justice in college, but it isn't a required major in order to become a probation officer.

Be warned that if you take on-line courses, you might not qualify to become a PO. The college needs to be accredited.

I'm currently enrolled at Post University online out of Waterbury,CT. I'm getting a Bachelors degree in Criminal Justice. This is what you will need to become a juvenile probation officer. If your interested the next Module starts Oct. 31st. I will be starting Module 2 then. If you want to check out the cj program go to the internet addy below. There should be an 800 number on the site to speak with an advisor. If you have any questions for me you can email me too. I'll be glad to help in anyway. Best of luck!

To make sure you want to do this, while your in college you can do an internship with a juvenile probation office. This can help you decide for sure you want to do this.

i am a probation officer. I got a bachelor's in criminal justice. Took thegovt test..all that. It's not a great paying job...but I guess it's ok for when you're young..

I don't think that is a position I could take. The pay is absolutely great in the state of CT, but you better make sure you can distance yourself from the baggage these poor kids drag along, and the times when you just can't do more for them.

a degree in social work is normally the best path. I would say go and talk to the local juv probation officer and get thier incite into it.
