chilli & spices are supposed to speed up your metabolism. Eating breakfast definately speeds it up too. I went on a fat burning diet that concentrates on eating negative calorie foods, ie food that uses up more calories burning up the food in your body that there are in it. These include most fruit & veg, so smoothies and veg soup are great for losing weight. I don't know if there is scientific eveidence to support this, but it makes sense and really worked for me ina short space of time. I didn't want to lose a lot, but it stayed off as i started to eat 'normally' again.

Which foods are the best I'm not sure . One thing I do know is breakfast is the main meal to jump start your metabolism. Don't skip it ! Smaller meals more often are more healthy for you on the hole ,so this is good advice.

eating lots of little balanced meals during the day and exersicing can speed up your metabolism
fruits and wholegrains are a good way to start
