To the non-christians out there who have the opportunity to hang out around Christians. Have any of these Christians done something or acted in a certain way to do to make you reject Christianity altogether?

Please, tell me what other Christians have done to you that would make you never want to be a Christian.

I grew up in a Christian home for 18 years until I moved out and went to college. I found that I have a perspective for both sides now since I have rejected the "christian" faith. My response is that I have always found hypocrisy to be the most challenging and difficult to see past. When they don't "practice what they preach" and have double standards when it comes to their religion. Do as I say and not as I do.

Most Christians are loving people who genuinely care about others around them. But it's hard when they throw the bible at you all the while swearing and cheating and taking advantage by the fact that since they are "saved" they have no problems committing what they consider sin.

People are people. Both Xians and non are capable of doing bad or good things. If an Xian does something I don't like, then I simply don't do it. Or, I point out that it's not very Xianly (if it's not).
Nothing a Xian did turned me away from the cult. Reason had more to do with it. That, and the millions of ?'s I had/ have heard about 'If God is love then why...' It just got to where the flimsy excuses I always heard no longer applied. For instance, I couldn't be persuaded that what Hitler did to the Jewish was either 'tough love', some kind of test, or some form of punishmnt from a 'just' deity. There were a ton of other examples 'closer to home'. Then, I started reasoning. Hmmm, I really don't see why a PERFECT individual would create anything, including evil, or HOW an individual male could 'create' on his own. That concept is nowhere to be found and if we're made in God's image, that shouldn't be so incomprehensible.

mostly all of the christians I have an opportunity to be around are very nice people. They've never done anything to make me reject christianity. I rejected that a long time ago, before i spent any time with christians. I rejected christianity for personal reasons that were not influenced by others in my life.

Once I went to a charismatic church and people talked about the way I was dressed even though I was just a visitor. The next time I went, one of the elders took me aside before church and condemned my lifestyle. I then found out his pregnant daughter was getting married in the church the following month.

That put me off from church for a long, long time. I thought, what a bunch of hypocrites! It took me a long time to realize that because someone is a Christian, or any religion for that matter, it doesn't make them perfect because they are still human subject to all the faults that are inherent within us all - including myself.

The thing is, we shouldn't look to another human for all our answers but look towards God because in the end, when we are judged, it will be a one-on-one with God. What someone else did or didn't do will not even factor in your judgment.

My Christian friends and co-workers are wonderful people. I am happy that they find fulfillment in their religion. I simply practice another religion. Since I have never practiced Christianity, I have nothing against it. I was raised as a polytheist and I have always been happy in my faith. I have no reason to want to denounce my deities and my religion. I don't necessarily reject Christianity, rather, I embrace my own deities, beliefs, and religion. I am a polytheist who worships Celtic deities, believes in reincarnation, and does not believe that any all-positive, all-negative, all-powerful, or all-knowing deities exist. I imagine that Christianity rejects my beliefs so it has never seemed like an option for me. If Christianity embraced my beliefs and deities, I would probably practice it.

I'd say 70% of my friends are Christian, we just don't talk about religion for the most part. It has nothing to do with what I want or don't want, I think Christianity is all made up. The bible, jesus, all of it. To imply that I don't want to be a Christian because someone hurt my feelings is ludicrous, and an insult to my personal belief system. Your perception is your reality, and you need to realize everyone has a different reality.

As with all religions there are good people who help you develop a keen interest and there are people who make you question whether that person understands the idea behind religion.

I recently got married to a Catholic guy. I am not Catholic or Christian. We were very disheartened to discover that there was only 1 priest who was willing to marry us out of at least 4 or 5 that we met with. We were also disheartened to learn that unless you are Catholic, you are going to hell and you are a heathen!

I am of the belief that religion helps you attain a higher being and a higher sense of consciousness...if you ignore the 'man-made' rules and regulations. But there are so many stigmas associated with being one religion versus another that it is enough to make you not want to practice any religion.

A very wonderful Christian family invited me to go to church with them before I became a complete Atheist. I was still searching for what made sense to me. The people there were lovely. I just found that Christianity wasn't for me. Once I started saying I was an Atheist, people changed their attitudes towards me dramactically. That got me analyzing Christianity more and made me happy to be an Atheist.

I am a Christian and nothing would ever make me not want to be one. However, what I can't stand is how some Christians take it upon themselves to judge other people. They would be judgmental whether or not they were Christians, though. Some day THEY will be judged for what they are doing to others!!

I have a friend that does to church every sunday. Anything they are having in the church, she is most present and she always inviting me to come to church with her. She always defends christian singers who i think are just trying to make some money.
Yet she has more sex than i do. Engages in more sexual activity than i do, and she ain't married not to mention her man spends the night in the house and her mother ain't even know.
I could say that i am angry that my man works abroad but when he is here i do not answer the phone. Don't have the time too.
The point is christians chastize those things yet she is ever so present in it.
Hypocrite!
