Yes I agree. What you speak is often indicative of what you believe and for many people what they believe is what they act upon. Thoughts become words which become deeds. And depending on the person the deeds can be benevolent or malevolent.

Also, according to certain spiritual warfare doctrines, the tongue can be used to issue blessings or curses. If a blessing, goodness and life will dominate, if a curse demonic power is given authority to exist and act on the curse resulting in evil and sometimes death. The severity of the action or the type of demon involved is based on the type of curse. Whatever you speak into existence you will bear the consequences of.

Yes, I agree with that inspired scripture!

Actually had a study on this yesterday concerning the power of the tongue regarding husbands and wives, although it well lends itself to your question.

1 Peter 3:7 shows that the tongue can affect your relationship with God. Stating:
"YOU husbands, continue dwelling in like manner with them according to knowledge, assigning them honor as to a weaker vessel, the feminine one, since YOU are also heirs with them of the undeserved favor of life, in order for YOUR prayers not to be hindered."

Well, if your prayers hit the ceiling instead of being heard your everlasting life could be in jepardy. Notice the Scripture below as well.

"If any man seems to himself to be a formal worshiper and yet does not bridle his tongue, but goes on deceiving his own heart, this man’s form of worship is futile." James 1:26

"So, too, the tongue is a little member and yet makes great brags. Look! How little a fire it takes to set so great a woodland on fire! 6 Well, the tongue is a fire. The tongue is constituted a world of unrighteousness among our members, for it spots up all the body and sets the wheel of natural life aflame and it is set aflame by Ge·hen´na. 7 For every species of wild beast as well as bird and creeping thing and sea creature is to be tamed and has been tamed by humankind. 8 But the tongue, not one of mankind can get it tamed. An unruly injurious thing, it is full of death-dealing poison." James 3:5-8

Death-Dealing Poison!

Interestingly in Proverbs 12:18 we are shown the contrast of the uses of the tongue:

"There exists the one speaking thoughtlessly as with the stabs of a sword, but the tongue of the wise ones is a healing."

The Death part of the Scripture you quoted most likely would be brought upon ther person who cannot control his tongue, however, the healing would be someone not only speaking lovingly, but also sharing the "Good News" of God's Kingdom and the truth from the Holy Bible.

That can help to heal years of emotional scares. I know about this personally!

Peter discusses in 1 Peter 2:1:

"Accordingly, put away all badness and all deceitfulness and hypocrisy and envies and all sorts of backbiting"

The Greek work translated "Backbiting" means "insulting language" The article stated that "It conveys the idea of 'shooting people with words.' How well that describes the effects of an unruly tongue!

Thanks for asking!

Yes. Our very words invite evil spirits to torment and bring great fear into our lives. I have heard more than once that a person will make the statement, "I want to die" just before they commit suicide. Often they make similar statements many times before they actually do commit suicide.

We believe we get anxiety from a chemical imbalance of the brain, but what causes this chemical imbalance. Then they say, it is inherited from ancestors. The Bible says it is not genetics but a curse that comes down generation after generation because of ancestral sins.

Anxiety is FEAR and FEAR is sin. Drugs are taken to combat anxiety (fear), but in the long run the drugs end up causing more anxiety and finally pain.

God says that He did not give us a spirit of fear, but of love, power and a sound mind. A sound mind does not have a chemical imbalance of the brain. If your chemicals are unbalanced then the culprit is Satan and his demonic hoard of evil spirit. If life and death are in the power of the tongue, then we can easily speak a chemical imbalance by inviting evil into our lives. Alcohol, drugs, sexual misconduct, etc are all direct invitations to evil spirits and Satan s purpose is to kill, steal and destroy. Satan will get you so sick that you will take your own life. When Satan starts messing with your thinking (your thoughts) then command him to leave in the name of Jesus. Scripture says that if we resist Satan he will flee from us. So resist bad thinking and immediately put your mind on good thoughts, righteousness, kind things, beautiful things and what is just and right in the eyes of God.

We can be damned or blessed by the words we use, if we love the world, then we will speak damnable things, if we Love the Lord, we will speak of blessings and be blessed. It is absolutely true.

Most definately agree. How many lives are ruined because of lies, gossip and such? If you deny Jesus, you die spiritually. If you profess him as Savior, you gain eternal life.
