I have one of those deep rock style things for my cat to drink out of...However, she much prefers to drink out of glasses of water that I leave around the house! She also will try to MOVE her water dish or tip it over...why does she do this? I keep it clean and refill with fresh water often....

Yeah I have a cat that is finicky about his water. He will only drink if it running right out of the spout. So we bought him one of those "fresh flow" dishes but it still wasn't good enough. He used to try and tip over the water dish as well. She does this because she is finicky. She only likes the FRESHEST. Can you blame her?

Cats are very fussy about where they drink from and prefer running water in general and usually very fresh water but not always. Best thing to do is offer a variety of drinking spots. You can get some pet drinkers which filter the water and have it running through

I have 3 and two have no problem with the big dish just drink and move on. The other dips his paw in and then will lick the water off. He will drink normally too, but if we put down a coffee cup with water he will dump it over every time, on purpose. My girl cat loves the cups and we will give her one every now and then when it is just her. I guess they think they are drinking what we are, it is funny they get such a kick out of something so silly. I think when they knock them over they are playing or something.

Sounds like she likes water. When she is doing that thing with her dish, she is probably just playing. There was a sticker on the side of my cats' water jug and he would pull bits of it off and drop them in the water dish. Then he would act silly and attack the water jug. He also likes drinking directly from the faucet and he likes to splash the water everywhere when I am brushing my teeth. (some cats do like water or they like to play in it)

Most of my cats like to drink out of cups of water. Like the one we keep on the sink. Sometimes they drink out of the toilet so it must be kept closed at all times.

My cats also do a little dance before they start drinking water out of their water dish or a cup. I still can't figure that one out. But it's cute.

I also have one that dips her paw into a glass and the licks it. We had cats that did that too when I was growing up. But they did it if you had milk in a glass. This one does it if there is tea in a glass.

Cats dont see very well close up, so maybe it's easier for her to see where the water in your glass is because she can see it from the outside. Try putting a couple of floaties in the water (like a ping pong ball), so she can see where it is. I think that you can actually find water bowls that change color when they are wet, which helps kitties to see the water level.

Mine does the same. Both my kitties do this. It's frustrating but after awhile they'll learn to leave your glass alone.

She just doesn't like it. She drinks from your glasses to feel like you, perhaps. Mine used to do it too.

Mine does the same thing. I think its cause they see the reflection of themselves and want to play.
