my sister is 17 years old... she is always stealing my stuff... I can't leave money on my dresser, I can't leave my car keys or my phone lying around, because she will use my cell phone or take off in my car for days... I can't leave anything of value lying around. It was recently my 21 birthday and my boyfriend bought me an ipod and the charger to go along with it and yesterday they both went missing... I'm super mad because I know it was her... my parents would not take it and I already asked them... I asked her if she borrowed it and she says she has not seen it in days...I told my mom that I want it back and she just said I look for it... what should I do... I am at a point where I get fustrated because i can't leave anything lying around in my own room or house,,, what should I do! I was even thinking of pressing charges on her for stealing it this time but is that a good idea or no... would that be a good lesson? or is that to harsh? what would you people do? Please Help!

Put a lock on your door, and don't leave anything lying around. If your parents won't at least consider that she's possibly stealing your stuff, then I would herniate to give them a key. That might be a tough one because it is their home. Pressing charges against her is probably a bad idea, you'd have to deal with your parents.

I'd seriously start thinking about getting my own place- where my sister would not be invited.

I had the same problem with my step sister. I even caught her in the act of stealing one of my CDs, it's so hard but really you just have to keep tabs on everything. Are you parents even doing anything about this? Why not? I know my step dad didnt do much to my step sister but if she is taking off in your car for DAYS? What kind of postion does that leave you in, I assume you work and you need the car for work. You really need to confront your parents about doing something about this OR try asking them to help you invest in a very big lock box to put all your stuff in or invest in a lock on your door. The point is it's your stuff she shouldnt be taking it family or not you need to look out for yourself in this situation. My best suggestion is 1 just confront your parents 2 invest in locks or lock boxes. Keep the keys around your neck at all times whatever you have to do do it.

if i were you, i would charge her because that's the only way she'll learn. i mean, how can you steal from your own family, that's just wrong. and maybe she'll stop. if you don't want to be that drastic, than change your lock to your room and carry a key around so that she can't just go in your room and steal stuff. if that was my situation i beat her, but that's just me. so the best thing, i guess just change the locks and never trust your sister.

Get some of those exploding ink packs that banks use when people rob them. Put the sensors on your room door. Once she gets about 15 feet away - BAM!! She's going to have a hard time explaining how she and the kitchen are now painted fuscia!

Your sister has no respect for you or your personal property.
I would have a lock installed on your bedroom door. I know that will be a pain to have to lock and unlock the door, but look at the alternative, you will never be able to keep anything that she wants.

I use to have that problem with both of my younger sisters. I went to a hardware store and bought a latch that I screwed into the the frame and a lock. Problem Solved.

If she is stealing then she has no respect for you. You can start stealing her stuff, talk to your mom and her about it, or just keep your mouth shut and continue getting your stuff stolen. And you can get a lock on your door.

Install a lock on your bedroom door and keep it locked at all time! And do not give the key to anyone.

If you don't share the same bedroom,
put a lock on the door.
Since your mother is being passive about it,tell her what you plan to do.
Can you move out?
