Was visiting someone and they say it cannot be updated/graded and are stuck paying AOL $25. to stay on-line??????? What can be done with this Win ME System???

Support from Bill and his thugs are no loner available. Yes it will work with a high speed connection. Stay away from XP your computer may not be able to handle the crap that comes with it. If you have to stay with Microsoft go to Win 2000 Pro. or better yet go to Puppy Linux.com and download Puppy Linux. You can install it without re-formatting and it will coexist nicely with ME. Puppy is fabulous with a high speed connection.

I highly doubt there are any updates available anymore for ME. All you can do is run it, and hope nothing goes wrong. I don't think that you should have to rely on AOL. Depending on your PC manufacturer,you should be able to visit their support site to find out about software and driver downloads to accomodate high speed.

Windows ME will happily take a high speed net connection so long as the computer has USB...
There is no need to upgrade operating system.
they could get either an ethernet card or a usb card

Well, no, Microsoft no longer supports Windows ME/98/95 .. However, who ever told you that you are stuck paying AOL is wrong. You can easily connect your system to broadband.

Check to see if the computer is powerful enough to be upgraded to Windows XP, change it over and ask AOL for an upgrade disk.

go to microsoft.com and they have updates for ME
