Oh my! I just bought The Daily Record (scottish paper) And on the front page, it says around 350 prisoners will be allowed leave from prison this christmas to spend time with their family. Including a double baby killer and a terrorist plotter.
Whats going on with this. Surely when you get sentenced to jail you should stay in jail. I wonder hown many will commit another offence whilst out for the jolly season. **watch this space**
Oh and i think ill stay indorrs this xmas, with my doors locked !

I dont see how anyone could agree with them getting out for xmas.
Imagine someone was in for murdering someone in your family, how would you feel to know they r allowed out to spend time with their family, and you cant?

The World's gone completely bonkers!!! Arh' those 'poor' prisoners that never get to see their families because they're locked up all day, my heart bleeds for them....NOT!!
Why does the law favour the criminal and NOT the victim/s?
The heartbroken parents of the murdered babies won't ever get the chance to spend Christmas with their lost loved ones. This just adds insult to injury for the victims of those evil bastards who took the lives of the innocents.
You're absolutely right, they should stay in prison and have all privileges denied. They're the cancer of society, that eats away the common decency of law abiding citizens. They should be locked up indefinitely, until they die a sad lonely DEATH!

This really is a world gone mad. I remember that when a relative of mine was the victim of a serious crime she was dreading the release of the person concerned and in fact sold up and moved as a result. This all sounds like an excuse for the prison staff to be given extra leave over the festive period -- rather like hospitals releasing people before the weekend. Come to think of it, so do prisons! If you're due out on Sunday, or even Monday morning, you are released on Friday. Well, there's a coincidence!

Of cause they have to let the prisoners out at Christmas, time the reason being there are so many Illegal immigrants in this country committing crimes that the government want to give them a good time over Christmas, so free up the prisons invite them in and give them a great time at the tax payers expense

What is this world coming to, they are in prison for committing a crime and in some cases a very serious one too! They did the crime so obviously they must do the time, without a holiday handed on a plate for them.

The criminal justice system needs to be changed, are all these prisoners religious, did they think about their families before committing these crimes? I doubt it very much. No wonder prison is not seen as a deterrent, its now a status symbol.

If it is true it is a disgrace and another example of this country going to the dogs (apologies to any dogs reading this!).
They have NO right to be enjoying themselves when they have committed crimes that have caused other people misery and distress - or worse, injury, illness or death.
Perhaps it will only be people like white collar offenders - financial fraud/tax/council tax and stuff like that who are not really a threat to society.

Well there is some GREAT news! I agree with you, they should remain in prison, obviously, they are bad people or they wouldn't be there in the first place. I suspect (hope I am wrong here) that the government will regret this decision within days of this "leave time"............

how can all those guards get time off if they don't let the prisoners go home.
Yes it is a silly idea but in many places inmates of non violent crimes with a short sentence can get varoius types of leaves for family issues
