Pus are bacterial infections. There are different causes why pus would appear on the face. It could be a wound infection, acne, or any other stuff closely related to that.
If there's a wound, pus would appear due to infection. Proper dressing of the wound would be appropriate. If it's due to acne, try to eliminate the acne by checking your habits.
Do you rest your hand on your face? - Don't!
Do you get stressed often? - try some stress eliminating activites like yoga.
Do you exercise regularly and drink at least 8 glasses of water a day? - that's good.
Do you wash your face once-three times a day? - good!
Is your hair clean and kept away from your face? - great!
Do you stay away from junk foods and eat healthy foods? - even better!
It's all about proper hygiene and being aware of bad habits.

Its not the persons fault, at that time that is how the bible was interpeted. Now its interpeted differantly due to a clearer understanding. People who obeyed the "mistakes" were not purposefully breaking gods law. Thus, they wouldnt be held responsible for it, since they honestly thought that was right. If however they knowingly did something against teachings, that would be different. Since they were faithful, they will be fine.

Keep face clean, eat right, use facial acne products, visit a dermatologist.Other than that you cannot prevent it but you can treat it.
