I am joining the military in a month (hopefully), and I really need to loose a few extra pounds. I am 5'3 and 165lbs. I work full time and go to school full time. Should I take time off work so i can get ready or what?

I wouldn't worry about the pounds themselves - basic training will tone you up. When I went through basic, I actually gained 30 pounds, but lost three inches around my waist - all the fat converted to muscle. Just eat a sensible diet between now and then.

But you will probably want to get started on building your stamina up. The more stamina you have at the start of basic, the easier the physical challenges will be. Set yourself an exercise routine for the next month, and stick with it - it can be as simple as running a half hour every morning, then doing some sit ups and push ups every night before bed - the important thing is to just start doing something on a regular basis to build your stamina.

If you're going into the military in 1 month, why did you wait until the last minute to obtain regulation weight? Or is it that you haven't signed on the dotted line yet? All I can tell ya at this point is...exercise and get on a very strict diet. Call your recruiter up, he/she should be able to put you on an exercise/diet regimen to meet regulations. You could also try taking Twinlab's Diet Fuel... Good luck, and thanks for serving! :)
