It was the straw (no pun intended) which broke the donkeys back. We have been angered by muslims that don't intergrate for decades and the veil situation is a fairly moderate, safe subject to open up the great debate on British muslims and multiculturalism albeit a couple of decates late.
It's about time someone other than the liberal elite (ie 90% of the country) had a voice without being called closed minded, unenlightened or a bigot. There is no greater bigot than Mohammed or his followers.
No one likes the veil, it looks sinister is a visual motif of separation and mistrust and should be banned in any workplace.
Moreover muslim men and women should stop being so effing touchy and realise they live in the 21st century and stop clinging to backward rules as a measure of controling its women.

the veil issue is just nonsense, only a small percentage of less than 1% of muslim women wear the veil anyway and most that wear it do so in defiance
nuns are allowed to teach in schools, we dont tell them not to wear their habits and within the religion the dress code has the same purpose, we allow religion in schools in GB
dont worry i myself am quite excited about the fact that this is a new century, we are only the second generation of people to ever live through the start of a new millenia
the start of the last millenium (1000ad) the worlds population cant have been much more than 6 million in total so this is a very exciting time for us, i wouldnt worry GB will be great again
this is a time of change, for some people thats very stressful we just have to realise that and do the best that we can to help each other thru it

Why are the government promoting religious hatred? Who knows! But the press are certainly whipping everyone up. If they are lucky we may riot for them and give them a big news story!
Great Britain has always been a country of immigrants! Who knows if they are a Roman or a Saxon?
I dislike the veil! It intimidates me as a woman! However each to his own! Are we going to ban saris? Or crosses around necks? This is a FREE country lets keep it that way!

We're losing wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. The prisons are overflowing. Violent crime is on the increase. There's a generation out of control. So what stories do you expect to read in the paper? Some muslim women don't want Jack Straw to see their faces and Madge is adopting an African baby.

The press may have done, and a few nutters (from both sides) will jump on the bandwaggon. Apart from that, look out of the window. Is everyone going mad? Not round here they aren't.
We never had the GB we had before it isn't anymore. That is nostaligia.

No, the country has not gone mad Islam has. I watched some videos at the weekend, concerning muslim countries. I did not see a single woman wearing a veil. They wear the veil here as a deliberate provocation.
Why did she not wear the veil at her interview.
90% of comunication is through facial expression not through language.
