The RDA ( recommended daily amount) of calories for a woman is 2000 a day and 2500 for men. So if you stick to that and exercise regularly to burn off the excess fat then you should be fine.

The RDA are only AVERAGES, they are for people considered within the norm which is generally most of the population. It all depends upon how much activity you do. All you need to do is 30 mins of exercise, 3 times a week!!! That could simply be walking around the shops!

Don't count calories , eat sensibly at regular times because erratic meal times and insufficient food cause our primitive genes to expect starvation and so store every possible ounce of fat in order to survive .

You must convince your body that food is in good supply and storage is not necessary , do this by eating similar portions at meal times and always try to eat at the same time 3 times a day .

I would say from past experience that about 1,200 a day should help you lose weight, any less may make you feel too hungry, I believe that it is 1,500 to stay at the same weight.
