good for you for still making him do whatever you tell him....is there a problem you dont know about? for instance is he having a problem at school with another child maybe picking on him or something of the like?....grades okay? appetite?...if all is fine then hes just going through a phase and you need to stick by your guns and let him know that when you tell him to do something it is not a request but a demand and that it is not open for debate

hes a kid and at age 9 thats what they do they cry they whine and they most certainly fuss. When you became a parent did you assume it was going to be all great wonderful things and that the child would be perfect....if so you were wrong. I just suggest keep doing what your doing the fussing could be a side affect from rewarding him for being bad......never give him what he wants when he whines thats teaching him thats how to get what he wants and that will continue and most certainly dont hit the boy that will push him away from you and make him believe he wasnt a good enough child...he may be young but he still processes like us

Totally ignore the whining. I tell my kids that I don't understand "Whinese". It may sound mean, but I just ignore them when they get that way. When I first started ignoring the behavior it did get worse. When they began to learn that the whining would not get a response, they episodes got shorter and shorter. They whining has not totally gone away, but it has gotten much better.

You need to "step it up", by that, I mean, give him a choice, either you do it with no objection, or, take something or some activity he likes, away from him.

I have a 5 & 3 year old, and It usually works...

Because he is 9 years old. I suggest handing him a dust rag, the vacumn cleaner, a broom, a mop, etc and put him to work.

could it be that he is going trough some changes? or maybe he has some problems at school?
my 10 yr old started a new school and he is really not comfortable yet and he cries all the time for nothing, sometimes even wakes up in the middle of the night!

It's typical. Kids that age are entering a stage of life where they're not the cute little ones anymore, so they hold onto some of the behaviors of younger ones.
"Honey, you're too old to act like that. But if you want to keep acting like that, I'll go get you some diapers. And when you go out to play, take your pacifier."
