Perhaps its what is commonly called a "stitch" - its a spasm of the muscles in your ribs. Try stretching from the waste in the opposite direction of the pain - this will help release the muscles from spasm and get them back in to normal contractile sync...I hope this helps.

you probably just pulled a rib muscle and it can take several weeks or even months to go away depending on how you act daily, if resting, or mountain climbing. Your own actions will either help or hinder repair. If it persists you should go to Dr and get an x-ray done as it could be more. give it a bit then see how it feels. Try a cold compress on it while watching TV for about 20 minutes every time you relax and a nice hot relaxing bath helps too. Do not go around lifting heavy things or swinging baseball bats for a bit either.

I had some sort of air bubble in my rib cage area one time and it took me crying from the pain and when I took in a huge breath and just kinda fought the pain, it was gone and it didn't come back.
Hope that helps!

You might have a bladder infection that has worked its way up to your kidneys. One of the symptoms is a sort of stabbing, intermittent pain in your side, around your abs. You need to get to the doctor and get checked out so they can prescribe you some antibiotics.

yes i do, it's called being married.

but seriously, I have that from time to time. You may want to go see your doctor and keep a journal for couple days before you go and list the times it occurs, what you had to eat that day, any stressful times etc, that way you can give as much details as possible when you go.

It may be nothing, or it could be serious.

good luck.

You know what. I know exactly what is it.. It's because of cold.. At night when you're in bed, be sure to cover your back.. i always turn around and my back keep exposed to cold all night long.. next day i have that pain.. for hours.. So cover yourself at night, or have someone else to do it for you.. (that's better). =)

It could be your appendix depending on what side it's on ... if it's unbearable you may want to consult a physician.
