Try treating it over the counter with a heavy hand moisturizer. Treat it for about 1-2 weeks and if you see no change in the cracking and dryness seek a doctors opinion. If you work with your hands a lot at work they're more likely to get dry, and if they keep getting dry and no taking care of them will lead to the skin breaking down further and cracking. But treat it over the counter with a heavy moisturizer first rather than spending the money to see a doctor to have him tell you to do the same thing. And make sure its a thicker moisturizer, some of the over the counter lotions are thin and watery and aren't going to restore the severe lack of moisture.
