What do u you think I should get together or what are the most important things to accomplish while out there before my move?

The first thing I did was subscribe to the local paper where I was going to live, and read their classifieds online everyday for general ideas on prices and areas on an apt. Once I got that, I contacted the cable company so I'd have phone/cable/internet when I moved in. Then I had to find a moving company. Then I found a hotel to stay in for a week until my stuff arrived. Make sure you have enough cash with you to be able to live out of a suitcase for a while, plus start a bank account when you get here.

Um, just think about everything you do in your place right now that you had to set up when you moved in. Good luck and welcome to Cali!

I moved to LA from Philly. I was not as organized as you.

Are you looking to buy a house? Housing is not affordable here. I'm an engineer and I can't afford a condo in a bad neighborhood.

Do you have a car? Reliable transportation is a MUST in Los Angeles, especially if you are going to commute.

The cost of living is higher here than in B-More.

Utilities:
www.edison.com (electric)
www.ladwp.com (electric - municipal)
www.socalgas.com
www.sbc.com (now, at&t and they SUCK!)

Do you know where you want to live? Different areas of LA have very different flavors. Unlike the East Coast, downtown LA doesn't offer much. The surrounding cities, not really suburbs, have the nightlife going on.

You won't need your winter gear until you go skiing (this is a must...several ski clubs in the area).

Lots more. Lots. Feel free to email me at SexyTrojan@yahoo.com for more specifics.
