If you are having a professional do it then you can go back in a week or so. They know where the highlights were done previously and can highlight hair that wasn't highlighted before. Also, if it is regrowth that needs touched up, you would be getting hair that hasn't been previously colored highlighted and it won't be like coloring over already colored hair. If the highlights aren't light enough then you should definetly see a pro so they can get it to the color you want without overprocessing your hair.

If you are talking about when will you need to do your hair again when you get regrowth then its normally 6=8 weeks. If you want more blonde throughout your hair cause you weren't happy with the color you got then it is recommended to wait at least 48 hours for your hair to really shut down the cuticle so it has a less chance of frying. After you highlight your hair be sure to do the final rinse with cold water.Try to run the cold water over it for a few minutes.Alot of people don't know that but it closes down the cuticle and your hair will shine after your done styling.

I think its about 2 months. If you have really thin hair i would wait longer than that.
