I am french so english is not my native language. I have a coupon for a restaurant (1 free lunch or dinner entree when you buy one) and it's written: "dine in only".

It's not just the tips, it's the fact that if everyone ordered to-go, the kitchen would be overwhelmed preparing food for carry out while trying to prepare the dine in food. Plus the costs of the containers and sacks.

Plus, they're giving away free food. They want you to enjoy the ambience, see the full menu, see the plate presentation, and they want you to be a repeat customer.

This means that you have to eat at the restaurant. You can't take the meal to go or take it out. So find yourself a date and enjoy a dinner at a restaurant together. I hope this helps.. Buen Appetite.
Take care..

It means that you have to eat your meal in the restaurant, rather than ordering your food and then taking it with you to eat at home or somewhere else.

It means you must have the meal on the premises. You cannot "carry out" your meal. In general, this encourages a larger tab through drinks and deserts.
