We may be better off financially with cheaper flights (if you are able to book far enough in advance to benefit from the deals) but do you feel we are better off in terms of the overall package, quality, enjoyability etc?

In addition, do you feel that the non low cost carriers have caused the cost of a flexible / club / first tiket, on say BA, in order to fund cheaper ones for them to competer with Ryandare, Cheezeyjet etc?

For the bigger airlines to compete with lower prices, they have to cut employees and service.

Planes are not as clean, delays are more frequent, there is very little food service.

The customer is better off financially, but the service is worse.

What's good for choice is good for everyone... You can still fly first class if you want (and can afford it) or you can get your own helecopter, none of the old choices have gone away, there's just a new lower-cost option too. And yes it's not as good as the more expensive ways of flying, but that's as you'd expect.

I often go CheezyJet if it's just a half-hour UK flight, it's not exactly so uncomfortable that you can't stand it for 30 mins. And it's a tenner when the train would've been £60. Happy all round.

I was listening to the radio the other day about this. The fact is that more high income earners are using the budget airlines rather then low income earners. Plus it is having a bigger detrimental effect on the environment.

Overall package.....no, not really.
Let's be honest and admit they're nothing more than glorified buses. Who needs food and drink on a journey that's usually less than 2 hours?
As with everything, if you want quality it has to be paid for.
