If God is perfect can he simply say it is okay that you are a murderer? If God forgives without atonement can he be perfect? to deny the deity of Christ is to deny your own salvation. No created being is perfect and if a created being can achieve perfection why would Christ need to atone for sin? We would all be required to be perfect.

Chris P. A murder can only be forgiven through atonement of Jesus Christ. It is not God simply saying it is okay that you killed someone that would make God unrighteous.

2006-10-23 04:09:23 · update #7

yes riverstar if you call being righteous being limited...God will not become unrighteous I would supose that he righteous by choice...but he will remain righteous none the less.

redsyoung Jesus never lied nor was he denying his deity...To say that the father in heaven was greater than he was truth the same as your spirit should reign over your flesh Jesus humbled himself to be in the flesh and was in submission to the father the same as your flesh should be in submission to your spirit.

First, this is not a question, but a sermon.

Second, If Christ is not God, then the entire Bible is diminished to the point of myth, and your entire premise falls flat on its face. The only evidence that you have that a person is required to be free from sin is that one collection of books.

Third, the concept of "heaven" is also a Christian one, which is not accepted by many people of the world. The idea that after this one short life, we will be in a place of happiness and worship for the rest of eternity isn't held by many religions, including mine.

So, I believe that the Christian concept of being "saved", and the necessity of a "perfect atonement" is "necessary" only for Christians. That it helps them live better lives, that they strive for a conscious contact with their God. But Christ being God, is not a necessary belief for the rest of the world's religions, of which Christianity is not the majority.

to answer that question you have to read Genesis chapter three where it for-told the coming of his son. at that time he told Satan that he would bruise his son in the heal he would bruise him in the head. When Jesus died he was bruised in he heal only because he was resurrected to the heavens to sit beside his father. Satan will be destroyed according to the bible after the Battle of Armageddon which takes place after the 1000 year reign of Christ. Jesus himself said he was not the god, when the 12 asked him when the time of the end was, he replied no one knows but the father and the father is greater then i am. if Jesus was god , he was deliberately lying to his followers, and that would raise the question as to whether or not other parts of the bible where a lie. the bible does not lie man's interpretation of it does. to understand how this could happen consider this point when the bible itself was originally written there was no punctuation religious leaders put them in afterwards why is that important because by changing the punctuation of a sentence you can change the meanings.

Your question doesn't really make much sense as it doesn't specify what you mean by saved and why we need to be saved.

I don't feel any particular need for salvation, the only reason anyone would feel they need salvation is because they have been suckered into some bizarre religion which indoctrinates it's followers into wanting salvation.

Your question therefore only makes sense if you already believe Christ is God, although Christ denies godhood all throughout the gospels.

Your God can't save anyone without becoming human and being sacrificed? Sounds rather limited... for a GOD. And is it truly a sacrifice? Obviously he didn't die... he can't die, he's God. If he can DIE then he isn't God. He prays to himself? He begs for forgiveness on the cross from himself? He asks that the cup pass him by right before he is taken to be crucified (which is a Roman Death Penalty for Treason TO Rome... not a Jewish punishment. Jewish Punishment was STONING)

And actually, you ARE required to be perfect. Matthew 5:48.

Jesus being G-d is an old mythology tale----------it was made up by the church to get control of people and away from their Greek and Roman gods. Really, if you stop and think about it, it is very illogical.

My G-d would never come to earth in human form, and I alone am responsible for my sins and the way I live. It is between me and G-d. I need no intermediary.

the Jesus story is a farce. How can Jesus save anyone when he couldnt save himself from death? His father is the one that saved him and not Jesus. However look closely at the OT his father was anything but kind, and if he were the true God id ask to be destroyed instead of live under such a dictator

No, he does not say murder is OK, but if a murderer repents of his sins, God will forgive him.

Again, if any sinner repents, God forgives.

Nobody will ever be perfect.
